In this episode of Keeping It Real: Urban Defense for the Real World Joshua takes some time to speak with James Yeager of Tactical Response. In this episode we go into some of the basic firearms topics for beginner shooters, but there is something for everybody, even if you are an experienced shooter you will still be able to appreciate a lot of the topics and discussions we cover. This is the first episode done with James Yeager with future episodes coming where we will delve into more advanced topics. We also discuss SHOT Show and some of our personal likes and dislikes. In the “Reviews You Can Use” segment I will review the Crossbreed IWB (inside the waistband) holster.
If you appreciate our veterans, and if you have ever loved a pet- YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS SHOW!
Did you know that 22 of our military veterans commit suicide every single day? Often times these men and women have experienced such unthinkable trauma- both physical and mental, that it is difficult for them to come back home and live a normal life. All too often our military men and women have had to leave the best parts of themselves out on the battlefield.
In the same regard, there are countless perfectly healthy and loving, but abandoned dogs in the US, that end up being euthanized, simply because they have no place to call home.
Pets for Vets is the brainchild of Clarissa Black, who realized that animal therapy for veterans in the VA setting worked- but she thought- Why shouldn’t these vets be able to get “therapy” 24/7?
Today Pets for Vets runs a “match-making service” for homeless dogs and sometimes hopeless veterans, and the result changes each life for the better.
Listen to how Pets for Vets finds specific dogs for each specific veteran, and how they train each dog before they move into the veteran’s home, with specific training geared toward that vet’s needs.
Listen to the heartwarming stories of vets and their pets who were “saved” by each other, and how neither is a statistic now, as a result. Listen to how these vets have overcome PTSD, reduced their need for medication, been helped to return to society, and how their companion dog, made them whole again.
If you care about our veterans, and want to thank them for their service- you need to listen to this show.

Todd’s company produces clean cook stoves (such as rocket stoves), ovens, and bio mass products for emergency, recreation and every day living. Staying toasty in bed as long as possible before the chaos of our little ones is heard throughout the house,
Counting to 5 in slow deep breaths upon finding a debris pattern of my tools from unauthorized use, and
Taking a Power-Nap in the late afternoon on Christmas & New Year’s Eve so I can accompany my in-laws…they have a tradition of pulling all-nighters: the kids love it, my wife grew up doing this, and as long as I stay up with them past midnight, I remain within the “circle of trust”.
These tips are for your house & provide a great checklist on things you already might have done. You know, redundancy.
Dale and Lisa Goodwin are guests on the Doctor Prepper CPR Talk Show to discuss how they have created a website SurvivalistPrepper.net and are dedicated in their effort to work on preparedness as a couple, totally supportive of each other. They have a farmstead on the eastern plains of Colorado and enjoy their preparedness lifestyle. Though not preparing specifically for an economic collapse or a grid-down event, they feel they want to be ready for any sort of personal doomsday that could arise by having the necessary equipment, such as a generator, emergency supplies and food storage.
Dale and Lisa are also writing other of books, and being a “team” helps because they can bounce ideas off each other and clarify their family objectives and efforts.
Their preparedness mindset has encouraged them to create a course for those initiating an interest in preparedness, and will be available in January 2014 on their website. They believe the right frame of mind is essential for anyone to live the preparedness lifestyle as opposed to trying to see it as just a passing fad.
They consider themselves fairly rational when it comes to preparing, and they are purchasing additional land because we want to build their home from the ground up and develop their property appropriately for their lifestyle. This is how they want to learn and practice some of the skills that can’t accomplish at their current home. They plan to start by building a cabin there and truly “live off the grid” as soon as possible
Visit their website and review the developing Survivalist Prepper Academy at Members.SurvivalistPrepper.net, a community for like-minded people to get together, learn and teach each other about a wide range of preparedness skills and ideas. There will be a free course soon, listing an abundance of information in one location for those beginning their involvement in preparing. They will also be adding more courses in the future.
Joe Nobody believes “…you can have all of the water, food and medical supplies in the world and it won’t do you a bit of good if someone comes and takes them from you. Security has to be the first priority!” As a preparedness author of fiction and non-fiction books, his writings cover defense preparation for when things all fall apart.
In this interview on the Doctor Prepper C.P.R. Talk Show, Joe explains:
Why must preppers be fully able to defend their families and shelters?
How do events develop on a critical timeline?
What do the periods of social grace, realization, desperation, and reorganization mean?
Is there hope for life to return to “normal” in the future?
How can we deal with the uncertainty of any future localized, regional, or national event?
Joe’s rules and tests for any type of preparation activity are:
Do no harm to self or others.
Always have a dual purpose.
Recognize that people are the biggest problem in planning and execution.
Remember that you and your family are people, therefore the biggest problem(s).
Your equipment and skills must mimic military preparedness (i.e.: easy to use & durable).
Everything must work at night.
Joe has been listed on Amazon’s Top 100 Best Seller’s List as well as the Top 500 ranking among all Amazon listed authors. With over 1000 Amazon reviews, readers have collectively assessed his works with a 4.3 out of 5-star rating. Over the last two years, his titles have ranked #1 in six different genres, including both fiction and non-fiction categories. Joe’s technical manuals and novels total over 250,000 copies in print.
His appeal to the prepper community is born of his own belief system and experience. He has provided systems, consulting and training for the U.S. Army, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Naval Research, United States Border Patrol as well as several private firms and government agencies. He is currently active in this area, and for the security of his family and ongoing business, wishes to remain anonymous. He has over 30 years of competitive shooting experience including IPSC, NRA, and other related organizations. He has been a firearms instructor and consultant for more than 30 years and holds the rights to a United States Patent for a firearms modification.

Find out how they grow food, raise livestock, get milk, eggs, and the ingredients needed for pumpkin pie from his sustainable greenhouse. Find out what they do for fun and how they keep their sanity in their isolated environment. And find out what Santa thinks about what is going on in the world, about children today, and how we as parents can better prepare them for the world as we know it. Find out why Santa thinks a simpler lifestyle would be good for everyone, and how we can all help to put tradition and the real meaning back into Christmas.
And find out about Santa’s website where you can play games, meet the elves and send him a letter and your wish-list for Christmas.
Whether you are a child, or a child at heart- this is a great prepping show to listen to with your whole family!
Jeff Smith of Desert Ops Training & Tony discuss how critical it is for preppers to engage in self-reliance and tactical training. Buying prep items is only part of the solution. Buying preps without using them and thinking you are prepared is like thinking you can defend your family if you buy a gun but never practice shooting it. Jeff describes the take-a-ways students receive from many of his most popular courses offered by his school, Desert Ops Training including Bug Out Bags, Traps & Snares, Land Navigation, etc. Jeff & Tony also discuss the upcoming The Prepper Games competition they are planning in the summer of 2014.
In this episode of Know Your Food with Wardee, my guest is Jane, the “Mom With A Prep”. A few years ago, Jane began to feel unprepared for any kind of emergency that could affect her family. So she, along with her husband and children, began getting prepared through learning healthy cooking, self-sufficiency, and survival skills. Jane has a special place in her heart for equipping children with important survival skills, and you’ll see this come up again and again as we visit.
Get to know Jane and her family through the links and information below, and of course through this podcast. Plus… the tip of the week! Visit the show notes for links and more: KnowYourFoodPodcast.com/55.
