Join Donna Miller, Host of Your Preparation Station as she visits with Charles Daugherty of Patriot Crime Defense. Charles has some first-hand experience with fortifying his home (and the homes of other people) to protect from the number one crime in America: Home Invasion. Charles shares his journey, his Faith and some great tips to help keep your home safe & secure.
A personal introduction from Charles:
“My goal in life is very simple; I want to honor God in my work, take care of my family, and help others succeed!
I am currently the owner of Patriot Crime Defense which is the DBA name for Red Fern Dynamics. Patriot Crime Defense specializes in home security from a prevention stand point. We have designed and have manufactured The Patriot Door Kit, which when installed will prevent your doors from being kicked in. This type of breach is the most common way a criminal gains access to your home. My former business partner and lifelong friend and I started working on this particular problem in 2009 right after we won the Annual Soin Award for Industrial Automation. We have designed and invented multiple tools and machines through the years, even before graduating from High School. So when we were confronted with this problem and challenge, we kicked it into gear (pun intended.) The end result 6 months later was the Patriot Door Kit formerly known as the Door Sentinel along with additional patents pending.
In addition to my engineering and design background, I am also an avid outdoorsman. I am a certified NRA Rifle and Pistol Instructor as well as a Range Safety Officer. I teach survival skills, I am a 4-H Forestry Coach, permaculture designer, BSA Scout Master, Civil Air Patrol Ground Team Leader, Sartech II Certified and even a Certified EMR. I believe that preparation, on all fronts, is not only prudent but providential.”
Donna Miller, first and foremost, is a teacher, author, sought-after speaker and trainer in the preparedness industry. She has been a both guest and host on Internet and broadcast radio talk shows, television interviews, and expositions. She enjoys teaching online and local preparedness classes and ladies’ retreats for people to learn more than just head-knowledge of preparedness skills.
Under the leadership of her husband Joseph, Donna and her family have been actively preparing for more 25 years. It was only a few short years ago that the discussions about “preparation” seemed far-fetched and radical. Today, it has become a mainstream topic all over the world––and people are now highly active toward learning how to be more prepared.
The Millers have been blessed to meet many people along the preparedness journey who inspire and encourage them. This journey looks different for each family and they’ve enjoyed learning and growing along the way by having first-hand experience with building and living out of a year’s food supply, bartering and teaching ourselves ‘old skills’ to enrich their lives. Donna is happily married and has three adult children, and a daughter in-law. She and her husband Joseph are the founders of Millers Grain House, Your Preparation Station and are on th e board of PREPARE Magazine.

The Miller family has been active in preparing for many years, and they feel they have been blessed to meet many people along the preparedness journey who inspire and encourage them. They’ve seen YPS grow into a vibrant community of friends who share the interest of preparing and frugal living. YPS helped the Miller family succeed in their effort to find others to join with them in their journey and are grateful for the opportunity to share ideas, tips, skills, and lots of money-saving suggestions with their new-found friends. On YPS , the Millers share tips and resources on self-reliant living, gardening, farming, solar energy, livestock, homesteading, milling and baking with whole grains, and to living more frugally and saving money on grocery bills. Donna and Joseph look forward to a very busy and successful future as they expand their combined efforts to share their passion, creativity, and expertise in preparedness, prepping, and family survival issues.
The Millers are always looking for others to join with them in their journey and are grateful for the opportunity to share ideas, tips, skills, and lots of money-saving suggestions. Their desire is to peacefully build an encouraged and empowered, prepared and self-reliance community in the midst of chaotic times.
The Millers also own and operate MillersGrainHouse.com as the family business which provides tips, training and retreats as well as vital supplies for preparing yourself and your home for an uncertain future and gaining many important back to basics skills.

Deut. 28:5 – “A blessing upon your grain-basket and kneading-bowl.”
In this episode of Keeping It Real: Urban Defense for the Real World Joshua takes some time to speak with James Yeager of Tactical Response. In this episode we go into some of the basic firearms topics for beginner shooters, but there is something for everybody, even if you are an experienced shooter you will still be able to appreciate a lot of the topics and discussions we cover. This is the first episode done with James Yeager with future episodes coming where we will delve into more advanced topics. We also discuss SHOT Show and some of our personal likes and dislikes. In the “Reviews You Can Use” segment I will review the Crossbreed IWB (inside the waistband) holster.
Joe Nobody believes “…you can have all of the water, food and medical supplies in the world and it won’t do you a bit of good if someone comes and takes them from you. Security has to be the first priority!” As a preparedness author of fiction and non-fiction books, his writings cover defense preparation for when things all fall apart.
In this interview on the Doctor Prepper C.P.R. Talk Show, Joe explains:
Why must preppers be fully able to defend their families and shelters?
How do events develop on a critical timeline?
What do the periods of social grace, realization, desperation, and reorganization mean?
Is there hope for life to return to “normal” in the future?
How can we deal with the uncertainty of any future localized, regional, or national event?
Joe’s rules and tests for any type of preparation activity are:
Do no harm to self or others.
Always have a dual purpose.
Recognize that people are the biggest problem in planning and execution.
Remember that you and your family are people, therefore the biggest problem(s).
Your equipment and skills must mimic military preparedness (i.e.: easy to use & durable).
Everything must work at night.
Joe has been listed on Amazon’s Top 100 Best Seller’s List as well as the Top 500 ranking among all Amazon listed authors. With over 1000 Amazon reviews, readers have collectively assessed his works with a 4.3 out of 5-star rating. Over the last two years, his titles have ranked #1 in six different genres, including both fiction and non-fiction categories. Joe’s technical manuals and novels total over 250,000 copies in print.
His appeal to the prepper community is born of his own belief system and experience. He has provided systems, consulting and training for the U.S. Army, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Naval Research, United States Border Patrol as well as several private firms and government agencies. He is currently active in this area, and for the security of his family and ongoing business, wishes to remain anonymous. He has over 30 years of competitive shooting experience including IPSC, NRA, and other related organizations. He has been a firearms instructor and consultant for more than 30 years and holds the rights to a United States Patent for a firearms modification.
Jeff Smith of Desert Ops Training & Tony discuss how critical it is for preppers to engage in self-reliance and tactical training. Buying prep items is only part of the solution. Buying preps without using them and thinking you are prepared is like thinking you can defend your family if you buy a gun but never practice shooting it. Jeff describes the take-a-ways students receive from many of his most popular courses offered by his school, Desert Ops Training including Bug Out Bags, Traps & Snares, Land Navigation, etc. Jeff & Tony also discuss the upcoming The Prepper Games competition they are planning in the summer of 2014.
Doctor Prepper interviews Dennis Evers, a former cop and a police chief, who now lives the lifestyle of a prepper with his family in the mountains of Colorado. His easy–to-use book helps other preppers deal with the daily crises that arise in life, when emergencies strike. His son-in-law, an ER physician, assisted in the writing of this worst-case scenario book, aptly named How to Handle a Crisis. At less than $10, this valuable resource will fit anywhere for instant reference.
Dennis has written for years in his spare time about disaster preparedness and recovery, and terrorism and business continuity for some of the most prestigious security, business and government-oriented publications in the US, most of them on assignment. His emergency response book has sold over 160,000 copies globally to police, fire, the Secret Service, all branches of the military and government, and is used by numerous Fortune 500 companies as an emergency S.O.P.
How to Handle a Crisis is for individuals, groups, institutions and businesses that want a simple, quick reference for virtually all threats––from tornadoes to terrorism and bomb threats to broken bones.
Dennis’ first published book, The Pocket Partner, has sold more than 150,000 copies worldwide, and is used by professional responders, emergency services, the military, governments, corporate giants that include airlines, aircraft builders, theme parks, computer manufacturers, universities, schools, hospitals, as well as individuals.
Media Prepper listeners are in for a treat, as Glen Tate the Washington State-based author of the prepper novel series 299 Days returns to the show. Book 7 in the saga is about to be unveiled for the holidays. Glen brings a unique view of a partial collapse to the masses.
In the Media Prepper Media Moment, host Carolyn Evans-Dean is kidding around.
He’s Chuck Norris’ Chuck Norris, if ya know what I mean.
Seriously, if you care anything about upholding the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution and you don’t know who Massad is yet, you’re in for a treat. He’s written tons, continues to author articles, is a coveted guest lecturer, expert witness, and a living resource who is as witty as he is kind.
You must always follow the 4 RULES OF GUN SAFETY:
1. Treat every gun as if it is loaded.
2. Do not point a gun at anything you do not wish to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you are ready to shoot.
4. Be aware of your backstop and what is beyond the target.
With black Friday and the Christmas shopping season coming up I thought I would take some time to discuss how to stay safe while out shopping. In this episode of Keeping It Real: Urban Survival for the Real World I discuss vehicle safety, personal safety and ways to protect your identity. There can be a lot of distractions while you’re out shopping during this time of year which is what makes it perfect for those with ill intent, so it is best to take whatever precautions you can to safeguard yourself from theft or a violent attack. Just a few simple things can go a long way in your plan for personal protection.
Being the first episode of “Keeping It Real: Urban Survival for the Real World” I decided to use this opportunity to introduce myself and my show. I discuss the premise of the show, my experience, my background, my time with Survival Quarterly Magazine, my style of self-defense/self-preservation training, my martial arts background and some personal insights into who I am on a personal level. I look forward to passing on some good knowledge in an entertaining and enlightening way and this episode is a great place to start.
